Design Build Background

I have had an affinity for designing and building since I was knee high, and I feel blessed to have a career in doing what I love.  Established in 2010, I am the owner and sole designer at JE Design Build. I bring 23 years of combined experience from the design and construction industries. I started my business from the desire to help people improve their quality of life in their home and businesses by bringing creative design solutions into well executed interiors. I love working with people, building friendships with my clients and establishing a project relationship built on open communication, collaboration and integrity.  At the end of my client’s project I want them to experience a connection to their environment, one that is nurturing and fosters a sense of place and belonging.

I obtained a Bachelor of Science Degree in Interior Architecture and Design from Colorado State University. During separate summers in college I studied abroad in Queretaro, Mexico, and I worked for the Wyoming Park Service as a crew manager restoring and stabilizing historical buildings. Upon graduating I was hired as a Project Engineer by ISEC, a specialty millwork subcontractor, while I also pursued my Master of Science Degree in Construction Management, with an emphasis in historical preservation, from Colorado State University.  Upon completing my master’s, I took the opportunity to backpack through Europe and the UK. Later I completed a LEED-NC, 2.2, Green Building Certificate from CSU as I am an advocate for environmental design & sustainability.

I spent the first 10 years of my professional career in construction management working for two top design build firms in Colorado: Neenan and the Buchanan Yonushewski Group.  I was located onsite for most of my career, and this allowed me to work and collaborate directly with the superintendents, subcontractors, architects, designers and owners during the construction of the projects.  The knowledge I gained from being in the field has proven invaluable and has given me a unique perspective as a designer. Some landmark projects I worked on include the Budweiser Event Center and Larimer County Fairgrounds, Boulder Medical Center, Alpine Research Optics, Olathe High School/Middle school, Bend Surgery Center, Fort Collins Surgery Center, One Lincoln Park Residential Highrise and The Denver Pavilions.

In 2010 I decided to make a career change and started JE Design Build. My approach to interior design is to create an inviting and beautifully designed space achieved through the process of collaborating with my clients, understanding their needs, and orchestrating a place that helps them thrive.  My philosophy is to work hard, have fun and create a space that my clients are proud of!

My grass roots company has grown solely from client referrals which is why building a strong client relationship is paramount to me and the center of my expanding business.   I appreciate when clients include me during design conception as this allows me the ability to help them make wise design and construction decisions that affect their overall budget and project scope outcome.  I am accustomed to working with architects and contractors, and through my experience as a project manager, I can provide my clients with a one-stop design build décor service. My goal is to make my clients’ projects run as smoothly as possible, minimize their stress, save them time and money, and deliver the space they have always dreamed of.

I am a person of faith, a wife, mother, skier, scuba diver, lover of the outdoors, and passionate about traveling. I draw design inspiration from visiting and experiencing the culture and antiquities of new places. I have a strong affinity for historical architecture and classical art.  I love spending time with my family and friends, especially over a delicious meal or around a campfire making s’mores. I enjoy cooking, playing the piano, and having fun with my husband, kiddos and dog Winston.

That which we elect to surround ourselves with, becomes the museum of our souls and the archive of our experience.

Form follows function- that has been misunderstood.  Form and function should be one, joined in a spiritual union.
